The older we get, the more things quietly change the way we view life.
In the past, what made the heart anxious was about work, achievements, and how to appear successful in the eyes of other people.
Now, what often makes the heart anxious is the news about friends being called home one by one.
Who used to often joke together.
who used to always be present in every life story.
Now his name remains in prayer.
In our 60s we begin to realize that life is not a race about who can survive the longest.
Life is a journey of who is the most ready when the time comes.
Hair that is starting to turn white, energy that is slowly decreasing, and a body that is no longer as strong as before are actually not just signs of age.
All of this is gentle advice from Allah SWT so that the heart begins to remember more when it meets Him.
What once felt important, slowly begins to lose meaning.
The desire to be praised begins to tire.
The desire to have everything begins to fade.
At this age, the heart just wants to be calm.
And it turns out that peace does not come from having lots of possessions or being busy and big in the house.
What is most calming is when the heart feels more peaceful, closer to Allah SWT and begins to sincerely accept life as it is.
We also begin to learn that not everything has to be had.
*Because this life is only temporary.*
When we see more and more people going ahead of us, our hearts are reminded every day that one day we too will follow.
Not to be afraid, but to be prepared.
So while there is still time. do more things that soothe the soul.
pray more.
forgive more.
be more grateful. do more charity.
and don't let life decrease without charity.
Because in the endwhat is most valuable is not about how many world treasures we have collected.
But...
about how close our hearts are to God when we are called home.
